Electron Injection by Dephasing Electrons with Laser Fields

چکیده
The authors seek to review injection concepts for plasma based acceleration. It is shown that regardless of injection mechanism, resultant beams will be similar due to wave structure. Also, most schemes employ the same basic processes, namely the dephasing of electrons by laser elds, and can thus be analyzed with similar approaches.

Study of Laser Injection of Electrons into Plasma Wakefields
A proposed laser-plasma based electron source [1] using laser triggered injection of electrons is examined. The source generates ultrashort electron bunches by dephasing background plasma electrons undergoing fluid oscillations in a plasma wake. The plasma electrons are dephased by colliding two counter-propagating laser pulses. Laser intensity thresholds for trapping and optimal wake phase for...
متن کاملDynamics of Electrons in Free Electron Laser with Square Core Waveguides
Due to sensitive and important applications of free-electron laser in industry and medicine, improvement of the power and efficiency of laser has always been emphasized. Therefore, understanding the created field and examining the properties of the field in waveguides with different shapes and studying the sustainability of electrons movement are particularly important. In this study, the beh...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of the Non-Uniformity of the Electric Field Distribution by Injection of Net Electron Charge in TE CO2 Laser
In this report, the distribution and deviation of electric field in the active medium of the TE CO2 laser has been investigated due to the injection of net electron charge beam as a plasma generator. Some parameters of system have been considered, such as density and mean-free-path of injected charge beam. The electric potential and electric field distribution have been simulated by solving the...
متن کاملGeV electron beams from a centimeter-scale channel guided laser wakefield accelerator
Laser wakefield accelerators can produce electric fields of order 10–100 GV/m, suitable for acceleration of electrons to relativistic energies. The wakefields are excited by a relativistically intense laser pulse propagating through a plasma and have a phase velocity determined by the group velocity of the light pulse. Two important effects that can limit the acceleration distance and hence the...
متن کاملLOW ENERGY SPREAD 100 MeV-1 GeV ELECTRON BUNCHES FROM LASER WAKEFIELD ACCELERATION AT LOASIS*
Experiments at the LOASIS laboratory of LBNL recently demonstrated production of 100 MeV electron beams with low energy spread and low divergence from laser wakefield acceleration. The radiation pressure of a 10 TW laser pulse guided over 10 diffraction ranges by a plasma density channel was used to drive an intense plasma wave (wakefield), producing acceleration gradients on the order of 100 G...
